Emily Gray

Board Member since 2018
Diversity & Inclusion Committee
Chair of the Recruitment & Nominations Committee

Emily has been an active part of the Emmanuel at Brighton Community since 2016 when her child started attending in the Seedlings room. Five years later, he’s now a proud Maygwayyawk student who loves spending his days exploring, creating, building and playing outdoors with his friends and teachers.

Emily holds degrees in Child Development (B.A.Sc.) and Social Work (MSW), as well as a post-graduate Certificate in Leadership and Management. Throughout her career, Emily has worked in a variety of roles including early childhood education, child and family assessment and counselling, and more recently leadership. A naturally curious and critically thinking individual, Emily applies family engagement, social justice and diversity and inclusion lenses to all conversations. Emily is a strong believer in continuous quality improvement and is always thinking about how programs and organizations can get even better.

Many of Emily’s fondest childhood memories involve snow, mud and swimming in the beautiful freshwater lakes of Ontario. In adulthood, Emily has enjoyed exploring the backcountry of Algonquin Park during summer canoe trips. Getting out into nature has always been a “reset” button for Emily, and she’s thrilled to now share this with her son. Together, they enjoy spending time exploring the beautiful parks and natural areas in and around KW with friends and family.
