Brent Hutzal, Treasurer of the Board

Board Member since 2017
Chair of the Finance Committee
Governance Committee

Brent, his wife, Carolyn, who is a local pediatrician, and their three daughters reside in the Bridgeport area of K-W. Brent’s family has been part of the Emmanuel community since 2017 when his middle daughter started at the centre. She has since graduated, but his youngest daughter is now a proud member of the Sprouts room at EaB.

Brent is passionate about education at all levels and uses his experience in accounting and finance to provide leadership, support, and mentorship. He has his CPA, CMA, MBA and absolutely loves helping others better understand the language of accounting and finance, including, but not limited to, his role as professor/instructor at Conestoga College and Laurier. Brent has work experience in the fields of finance, accounting, web business, manufacturing, entrepreneurship, consulting, and entrepreneurship for large and small businesses in Southwestern Ontario, the GTA, and Calgary.

Brent has volunteered in each of the communities in which he has resided: he has been co-chair of the Parent Involvement Committee with the Waterloo Region District School Board, mentor of young entrepreneurs with Futurpreneur, member of the Board of Directors for Autism Calgary, Executive Director of Ivey Connects in London, and a volunteer with the Special Olympics soccer and bowling programs.

Brent’s other passions include running half marathons (not full marathons, that would be ridiculous) and all things Blue Jays. For two seasons, Brent worked as an usher for the Blue Jays – they actually paid Brent to watch baseball (and help fans find their seats).
